Blasting
Blasting and substrate preparation is the heart of any sound coating system. Blast media is critical to achieving the substrate profile and cleanliness. The process is measured per AMPP standards.
- Medias commonly used include:
- Copper Slag – no free silica, good profile
- Steel Grit – no free silica, excellent profile, recyclable
- Garnett – no free silica, deeper profile, cleaner surface, no shading
- Co2 (dry ice) – great for cleaning but no profile achieved, less waste
- Slurry (Garnet in H20) – low dust, good profile, less abrasive used
